AdaohThank you for bringing this topic back to a decent discussion style. This way we are able to stay informed.I think as someone else stated earlier, the cause of the problem isn't likely what the person was doing. I think it is more of a manufacturing defect, so the manufacturing date would be more useful to know if our model is more prone to bricking.
You can check this behind the box at the bottom of the sticker, where it says MFD:
for example the date for mine is 2021/05 and the 2 or so people that reported their manufacturing date were from april. So maybe it is an issue with the first batch where there are bad solder connections or something.
Also another very important thing to know on top of the raw number of bricked phones is the amount of phones that were sold. Without that, we cannot know if the issue is rare or common.
Having these 2 would let us know which phones are affected and at what level it is likely to happen. If the number is like 50 devices per 100 000 (Assuming there will be more devices coming and that there are ramdump cases not posted on here), it makes the error rate 0,05%. That would explain why Asus does not bother fixing the issue as repairing affected units might just be cheaper for them.

petrus73You're lucky that they offered you a replacement phone, not every is as lucky as you. The fact that we have to reach the point to sue the company is just a total disgrace.update from mi side: I received a "new" complimentary Zenfone 8 from Asus Italy the same day they picked up my Zenfone 8 bricked.
They assured me that I can use it just for the time the service center will find the problem.
Anyway I asked, and obtained, a total refund as soon as the service center will say that my Zenfone 8 has "the problem"
I won't use the complimentary for the fear that it will brick someday soon.
Just filled a lawsuit against Asus Italy and ready to send if they won't refund me very soon
I am very disappointed cause Zenfone 8 is (on paper) a great phone but I can tolerate another brick during a weekend.
I will switch to the new Iphone 13 very soon and ban Asus for life from my life

AdaohIt's sad that people from this community has to do all this work instead of Asus gathering the statistics. Again like what I said the main issue most people have is the lack of transparency from Asus which makes it appear that they are "hiding" something from us.I think as someone else stated earlier, the cause of the problem isn't likely what the person was doing. I fully support your decision to get a different (regardless if Apple or Android), clearly Asus just lost a portion of it's consumers with their abysmal service!
