ZenFone8 stuck on waiting for flashing full ramdump

As requested by the mod - opening new discussion for the issue.
The Flashing Full Ramdump happened to me too - the phone was being charged over the night and the error was waiting when I woke up.
I hope that at least your service will fix it quickly.

I think as someone else stated earlier, the cause of the problem isn't likely what the person was doing. I think it is more of a manufacturing defect, so the manufacturing date would be more useful to know if our model is more prone to bricking.

You can check this behind the box at the bottom of the sticker, where it says MFD:

for example the date for mine is 2021/05 and the 2 or so people that reported their manufacturing date were from april. So maybe it is an issue with the first batch where there are bad solder connections or something.

Also another very important thing to know on top of the raw number of bricked phones is the amount of phones that were sold. Without that, we cannot know if the issue is rare or common.

Having these 2 would let us know which phones are affected and at what level it is likely to happen. If the number is like 50 devices per 100 000 (Assuming there will be more devices coming and that there are ramdump cases not posted on here), it makes the error rate 0,05%. That would explain why Asus does not bother fixing the issue as repairing affected units might just be cheaper for them.

Thank you for bringing this topic back to a decent discussion style. This way we are able to stay informed.

update from mi side: I received a "new" complimentary Zenfone 8 from Asus Italy the same day they picked up my Zenfone 8 bricked.

They assured me that I can use it just for the time the service center will find the problem.

Anyway I asked, and obtained, a total refund as soon as the service center will say that my Zenfone 8 has "the problem"

I won't use the complimentary for the fear that it will brick someday soon.

Just filled a lawsuit against Asus Italy and ready to send if they won't refund me very soon

I am very disappointed cause Zenfone 8 is (on paper) a great phone but I can tolerate another brick during a weekend.

I will switch to the new Iphone 13 very soon and ban Asus for life from my life

You're lucky that they offered you a replacement phone, not every is as lucky as you. The fact that we have to reach the point to sue the company is just a total disgrace.
I fully support your decision to get a different (regardless if Apple or Android), clearly Asus just lost a portion of it's consumers with their abysmal service!

It's sad that people from this community has to do all this work instead of Asus gathering the statistics. Again like what I said the main issue most people have is the lack of transparency from Asus which makes it appear that they are "hiding" something from us.
From the number of repairs that had happened across the globe, they should have gotten a comprehensive report and analyze the data from there.
There is no mention from Asus and the mods that they have raised this to HQ and are seriously looking into the matter. Remember this is not just a minor issue, the phone literally just died for no reason and no warning. Most of us are frustrated not just by the loss of money but the loss of data, since there are no signs/symptoms that would at least warn us to start backing up our data.
Last but not the least, the way they handled this issue resulted in the loss of trust in Asus.
We also try to be as objective us possible but I can sympathize with others, I'm sure none us would buy a phone knowing the life span will only last a few months.

Petris, I read your post !!!! I also asked for a refund but without any response !!!! Did you hire a private lawyer or Federconsumatori for the cause?

Altroconsumo Lawyer, they are the best
Asus sent me 10 minutes ago all the documents to compile for the 100% refund on the Zenfone

I will send back their complimentary phone as soon as the refund will be on my C/C

THanks man, if someone has a good suggestion for an Android Phone with a 6" screen that takes good photos you are all welcome (just tag me to read your comments).

I was very satisfied by Zenfone 8 but Asus did the mistake and they have to pay back for a bricked phone.

If they back to me with some hints about the "problem" and the assurance the problem will be resolved with (just to say) a new model of motherboard or so, I had keep my Zenfone.
But from Asus nothing happened.
I think also that the "moderators" of this community has to do better with the users and to say "clearly" what is the problem. I don't trust anyone saying there are some "different" problems for the same device.
