UM5302TA how to use USB Type C to Charge a Phone with Laptop OFF

rickyprose

Dear all,

Is the function available to charge an external device (like smartphone) using the USB Type C from the Zenbook UM5302TA when the Laptop is OFF?

I did try to connect my Smartphone, is starting to charge for 1 sec and then stop charging.

There is anyway to enable/correct it?

On my old XPS I can do it enabling from the BIOS, but I don't see this function on ASUS BIOS.

Thanks a lot for any reply/suggestions.

This should not be a hardware limitation. Based on my understanding, due to power-saving considerations in laptop products, the likelihood of adding this feature is relatively low when portable power banks are already widely used. Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

We apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. The Zenbook UM5302TA does not support charging external devices via USB Type-C when the laptop is turned off. The USB Type-C port can only be used for charging the laptop when it is turned on. Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.

Dear @Falcon_ASUS

thanks a lot for the quick reply.

Last question to close the topics: do you know if in the future this function will be enable at BIOS level or will be not possible due of limitation in H/W design?

Thanks
