I have a Dell u2414h Monitor that when I plug into my Strix flickers. If I make it an extension of my screen it is more stable than if i make it a second screen.
I have tried multiple HDMI cables and a DPI conversion cable.

If the external monitor still flickers, I would suggest you to change another monitor to do the swap test.
