Grey lines and green flicker on webcam when using AC power

Quarter
Star II
System: Windows 10
Battery or AC: AC
Description: Grey lines and green flicker on webcam when using AC power
Model: UX533FD
Frequency of Occurrence: Always
Reset OS: No

Last edited by Quarter on 2019/12/9 09:37 As described above, the webcam image has grey lines and occasional green flickers. This only occurs when AC power is plugged in, everything works perfectly when using battery. I have removed and re-installed drivers with no success. This is a brand new laptop that I removed from the box yesterday. I see that there are two other questions with the same issue, but no answer has been provided. Is this a hardware issue and do I need to return my laptop or is there a software fix?

Hi Adam,

May I have a screenshot or video of the issue?

Thank you.

Hi @Blake_ASUS ,
May I send you the video via private message? I cannot see an option how to send PM.

I have the same camera flickering issue with brand new Vivobook 15
I called ASUS support and went through bios update and driver update with no success.
As this is brand new laptop, this is really disappointing ASUS has not been able to fix the issue since the discussion started few months back.

Hello,

I have a VivoBook s430f with the same problem.

If I'm connected to AC, I see flickering in the webcam. No matter which software I'm using (Skype, Google Meet, Zoom..), it's always happening.
I updated the BIOS from the official ASUS page, using the windows updater but the problem is still there.
Here my serial number: 12MK2N0CX06J782094
Can you please help?
Thank you

Hi,
The model i have is X512FJ.
I am sure ASUS has made an effort to fix the issue.
But the reality based on the this discussion thread over many months, it actually happens across many different models and is still happening to brand new laptops.
So this is where my eyes see that ASUS has not done enough.
Thank you.
