Detailed description：What is the maximum resolution for an external monitor I can connect to my laptop and what cable/connector can I use? Looking at 4k but may have to settle for something less.

My Zenbook specs says it has a usb-c port with display support but does it really mean i can use a usb-c to display port adapter and be able to run a 4k monitor at 60/4k, was this a mistake in the specs?

The Type C port maximum output is 4096 X 2160, 60 Hz
while HDMI is 4096 x 2160, 24 Hz
