New Zenbook S 16 (UM5606) - Random UCM-UCSI ACPI Device Error Code 43 + USBC Ports Malfunctioning?

Hi all,

Bought a Zenbook S 16 ~4 days ago. It has been running great, but yesterday all of a sudden I was hit by the UCM-UCSI ACPI device error (yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager). I wasn't doing anything special - the laptop was either idling or woke up from sleep / hibernate. Error code was 43 and I believe a certain GETxxx function was failing with error code 0x01.

With the device down USBC ports basically stopped working. I could not charge or connect devices with my laptop. I see the USBC cable LED light up but the devices weren't detected by any means. This would also sustain reboots and in BIOS all the USBC-related device checks would fail.

I ended up trying a fix I found online i.e. hold the power key for ~1 min (was it a CMOS reset or sth?) which worked. The UCM-UCSI ACPI started working again as well as the USBC ports (looking normal in BIOS again). However the fix did seem to have reset my BIOS and some related settings (e.g. "Device Guard")

BIOS on 312.

I do see this issue happen on many laptops made by ASUS / other brands, but is this hardware or firmware related? It is very alarming that this happened to my few day old laptop while other parts seemed to be working great. I fear that it happens to me some time later, entirely cripples my USBC ports and renders my laptop a paperweight (unable to charge). Has ASUS been aware of this problem and does the new BIOS (315) contain a fix?

TIA.

@rando_skrub
I would suggest you check if the BIOS and system version you are using are updated to the latest version.
If the issue has been resolved by restarting, I recommend you continue to monitor the situation.
Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.
