Hey folks—got an older desktop that still runs great on Windows 10, but it fails the Win11 checks (no TPM 2.0 / older CPU). Specs: i7-4790, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, UEFI but Secure Boot is off. Has anyone here actually installed Windows 11 on old PC hardware? If yes, did you do an in-place upgrade or clean install with any bypass steps, and were there issues with drivers/updates afterward? I’d love a quick sanity check (and any do/don’t tips) before I try it.

If your laptop cannot pass the official Windows 11 hardware compatibility check, we do not recommend forcing the installation. Although it is possible to upgrade or install by bypassing the check, you may encounter driver compatibility issues, unstable updates, and even risk not receiving future security updates. We suggest continuing to use Windows 10, which is still officially supported, for better stability and security.

You can install Windows 11 on an old computer like Intel Core i7-4790 desktop, even though it doesn't meet Microsoft's official requirements due to the lack of TPM 2.0 and an older CPU. Many users have successfully upgraded similar systems using workarounds to bypass windows 11 system requirements.

The CPU Intel Core is unsupported by Windows 11. This is why you can't install Windows 11 on old computer normally. However, you can use a dedicated app like WinBootMate to help you install Windows 11 on unsupported PC or laptop.
WinBootMate is a specialized tool designed to help users create a Windows 11 bootable USB drive quickly and easily. Unlike generic methods, it provides a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process, making it ideal for people who aren’t comfortable with command-line tools. With just a few clicks, you can prepare a fully functional USB installer without worrying about complex technical steps.
What makes WinBootMate stand out is its ability to bypass Windows 11’s strict system requirements. Many older computers fail the TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot checks, preventing them from upgrading. WinBootMate integrates smart bypass methods so you can install Windows 11 even on unsupported hardware, giving old PCs and laptops a second life.
The app is also highly reliable and fast. It uses advanced writing algorithms to ensure the ISO is transferred without errors, reducing the risk of installation failure. For anyone who wants to enjoy Windows 11’s modern interface and features on an older machine, WinBootMate is a convenient, safe, and efficient solution.

Upgrading an older PC that doesn't meet Windows 11's official hardware requirements can be tricky, but many users have successfully installed Windows 11 through bypass methods. Here's a quick overview and some tips about installing Windows 11 on an old computer:
Key Considerations:
Hardware Compatibility: Your i7-4790 is quite old and not officially supported by Windows 11 due to TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements.
Risks: Bypassing requirements can lead to stability issues, driver incompatibilities, or future update problems.
Backup: Always back up your data before attempting any OS modifications.
1. Creating a Bootable USB with Bypass Methods
Modify the registry during installation or create a custom ISO with the bypass parameters.
Alternatively, use the Installation Media Creation Tool with a registry tweak or a pre-made bypass ISO.
2. Bypass Methods
When installing, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
Type: regedit
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup
Create a new key named LabConfig (if it doesn't exist).
Inside LabConfig, create DWORD values:
BypassTPMCheck = 1
BypassSecureBootCheck = 1
Exit registry editor and continue installation.
3. Post-Installation Tips
Drivers: After installation, check Device Manager for missing drivers.
Download drivers from your hardware manufacturer (especially chipset, graphics).
Windows Update may not find all drivers, so manual installation might be necessary.
Many users have successfully installed Windows 11 on an old computer via bypass methods, but stability and future updates aren't guaranteed.
