XD6 disconnects from Internet until I reboot

thalheimer

Hi I have 4x XD6s, all are on 3.0.0.4.388_21380 firmware: one is router, one is wired backhaul, two are wireless AIMesh'ed.

Since late June it happened several times that the Internet stops completely but the wifi network is working, so all devices can connect normally but they can't connect to the Internet. The only way to fix it is to reboot the router and then it works again immediately.

Can you please help?

Hi @thalheimer ,

based on your issue, there's some question we need to confirm to you.

  • Did the issue occur only when connected to a specific router? Or does it occur only when connected to the Wi-Fi nodes?
  • Do both wired and wireless devices experience the same issue?
  • When you restarted, did you restart all four routers?
  • When the issue occurred, did you check the AiMesh node connection status in the GUI?
  • When the issue occurred, can you try connecting a device and accessing the internet before submitting a feedback log?
  • Can you provide the MAC addresses of the devices?

Thank you.

Please follow the steps below to report the issue through the Web management interface:

  • Connect your device (PC, laptop, etc.) to the router and open the Web management interface (http://router.asus.com/) in your web browser.
  • Click on "Administration" and then select "Issue Report."
  • Fill in your location, email address (required), ASUS service/case number, problem type, and problem description. Please read and agree to the privacy policy and relevant terms of service.
  • Click "Submit" to submit your form.

Additionally, please provide the product serial number, the time you sent the feedback report, the email used for the feedback report, and the time when the issue occurred via private message.

  • Did the issue occur only when connected to a specific router? NO
  • Or does it occur only when connected to the Wi-Fi nodes? NO
  • Do both wired and wireless devices experience the same issue? YES - ALL DEVICES ON THE ENTIRE NETWORK KEEP THEIR WIFI CONNECTION BUT LOSE CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET, NO MATTER IF CONNECTED WIRED OR WIFI
  • When you restarted, did you restart all four routers? ONLY RESTARTED THE XD6 ROUTER THAT'S CONNECTED TO THE MODEM, THEN IT WORKS AGAIN IMMEDIATELY
  • When the issue occurred, did you check the AiMesh node connection status in the GUI? IT WAS FINE, ALL NODES WORKED CORRECTLY AND ALL MY DEVICES WERE CONNECTED TO THE AIMESH WIFI
  • When the issue occurred, can you try connecting a device and accessing the internet before submitting a feedback log? WHEN ISSUE HAPPENS THERE'S NO INTERNET AT ALL
  • Can you provide the MAC addresses of the devices? THE ROUTER THAT'S CONNECTED TO THE MODEM AND WHICH I HAD TO RESTART IS 04:42:1A:42:0E:E0

Hi @thalheimer ,

thanks for providing the information.

It seems like you encounter WAN disconnected.

Thank you for providing additional information.

If the WAN connection is disconnected, the user should be able to check the internet status from the Network Map.

When the router detects that there is no internet connection, the system will display a prompt and provide a download link for offline use on the user interface (UI).

The user can click on the link on the UI to download the file to their local computer.

In order to further investigate and assist with your issue, we would need complete sys logs and configuration references. Thank you.
