RT-BE92U AI Mesh Issue

ataf

We got 2  RT-BE92U and both are at the latest firmware:

ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_37500
SUPPORTTABS_VERSION 3.0.0.6.102_37500
54.87 MB
2025/02/17

With this latest firmware, our main router is working fine (so far no random reboot / disconnect as described in https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/networking/rt-be92u-on-going-random-losses-of-internet-wan-access/td-p/4...)

However, the mesh node router keeps disconnecting after a few minutes, most of the time it can be reconnected automatically. The mesh is set up via wifi (I tired with or without MLO).

What happens if you change the node to Repeater Mode?  Does it stop disconnecting?

I havent tried repeater mode because that is not what I want.

Now I use Ethernet Backhaul Mode only, but the node router still dropping.

The WIFI, WAN, and LAN of the main router have never been dropped which is good.

The issue here is the node router will drop from the main router. Even the WIFI of the node router is working good, so it is not a reboot issue of the node router, it is about the connection to the main router.

Hi @ataf ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

To better understand the issue you are experiencing, please provide us with the following information:

  1. Hard reset: Have you tried performing a hard reset on both the router and the nodes? A hard reset can help eliminate temporary software issues.[Wireless Router] When Standard Reset Isn’t Working: Hard Factory Reset - Models list | Official Sup...
  2. Role swap: If you swap the roles of the main router and the nodes, does the problem still occur? This will help us determine if the issue is related to a specific device or setting.

Thank you.

In case it can help, what I found works well is to initially update firmware on the main router and node(s), then do a hard factory reset on all devices (method 2 for the RT-BE92U).

After all routers are on the latest firmware and have been factory reset, proceed with the initial setup on the main router, add the AI Mesh node(s) and complete the configuration from scratch the first time.

After the above procedure, firmware updates can be done through the GUI and factory resets are only required as a last resort (export settings file beforehand, import again after update to save time).

I followed this method with multiple RT-BE92Us in AIMesh: updated to firmware 37500, then factory reset all devices and reconfigured, then updated in the GUI to 37504 when it was released. Thankfully all is working well.
