How do I know the exact memory type to upgrade to

Hi,

I'm currently using an ASUS A556U laptop with a 4Gigs inbuilt memory. I'm lost to what exact memory to add to give it a boost. How do I get the know the exact RAM type and number that is needed to increase my memory? Should I be looking out for a DDR4 memory? If yes, what type and number should I look out for? And how do I confirm that the inbuilt memory is a DDR4 RAM?
