Asus ZenScreen not detected

  1. System: Windows 10 64 bit current update
  2. Battery or AC:
  3. Model: Asus N56JR & Asus Zenscreen MB165B
  4. Frequency of occurrence: Every time
  5. Reset OS:
  6. Screenshot or video. I have attached screenshot


Detailed description:I tried connect Asus Zenscreen to my Asus laptop. I can see there is light on the Asus Zenscreen. but no matter i select Duplicate/Extend mode, it doesn't works.

i have download the driver and installed but it doesn't helps.

Any idea what could be happen ?

    Is the monitor detected and listed in the device manager?

    And is the driver you installed from below link?

    I have downloaded and installed the driver from the link given above and has restarted my PC after install the driver. It still doesn't works.

    I checked the device manager and it seems the PC unable to detect monitor (Zenscreen). Any idea what could i missed out ?

    And do you have another laptop to check if the screen is working fine?

    I have tested al the USB ports on my 3 Asus laptop and below are the results.

    Asus Zenbook UX434FLC_UX433FLC -- able detect

    Asus E203MAS_E203MA -- unable detect

    Asus G56JR-- unable detect

    FYI, all 3 laptops are in Windows 10 64 bit.

    Any idea why only Zenbook able to detect it ?

    At first I thought it could be the issue use USB 2.0 and USB 3.0

    But after you testing, I am confused as well.

    Can you try to connect the monitor adapter to the USB port 2.0 at the same time when you connect MB165B to the laptop?

    Hi Blake,

    I have checked and attached the snapshot of USB portion from all 3 laptops.

    It seems Zenbook's “Extensible Host Controller Interface" is 3.1 while the other 2 laptop is 3.0. Can advise could this be the reason why Zenscreen is not detected on the other 2 laptops ?

    We are suspecting power issue. USB 3.0 is enough for this monitor.

    So have you tried to charge the monitor at the same time when you connect the monitor to the laptop?

    Can advise how can i charge the monitor ? There is only 1 cable in the box.

    Do you have another cable? regular Type A to Type A

    Connect the USB3.0 port to the laptop, and the USB 2.0 to the charger.

    Hi Blake,

    I can't find any Type A USB port on Zenscreen. I only found 2 ports (USB Micro B & USB Micro B Super Speed).

    I use the given Type A to USB Micro B Super Speed cable connect between Zenscreen and my laptop.

    Then I use my own Type A to USB Micro B cable connect between Zenscreen and laptop as well as direct connect to a power plug. Both doesn't works.

    Hi Zheepern,

    Sorry, I mistakenly type the wrong spec.

    Please connect the laptop and Zencreen with Type A to USB Micro B Super Speed cable,

    and connect Zencreen to a adapter (like regular adapter for phone, at least 10W) with Type A to USB Micro B cable.

    Even with the E203MAS? and how many Watt is the plug supporting?

    In this case, then we might need both the laptop and the monitor back to our service center.

    All three laptops that you mentioned are pretty old, so it would be more accurate to test directly on the laptop.

    I was using Samsung Fast Charge Travel Adapter (EP-TA200). Below is the power specification

    Input Voltage: 100-240 V

    Output Voltage (Max, Normal Charge): 5 V

    Output Current (Max, Normal Charge): 2.0 A

    I will bring it to the Asus Service Center to have a check on this.
