My WiFi just suddenly stopped working and it doesn't turn on. I tried restarting the phone, but no luck. I don't know if it broke after an update, but the Bluetooth option seems to be working fine, so it doesn't seem like a physical damage or something. Please help.

Same here. Mine started acting up a 3 days ago out of nowhere. The wifi doesn't turn on and the hotspot doesn't work. Usually a restart would fix it but since yesterday, no matter how many times I restart, the wifi woudn't turn on. According to other threads here, I am going to downgrade to Android 12 and see if it fixes it. If it doesn't, people have suggested that I take the phone to a service centre and that they will replace the motherboard. My phone is obviously out of warranty at this point (bought in the US in early 2022) so I'm not sure how much it will cost. Have you tried the downgrade option?
On a side note, when I debug it with ADB, I get the following logs when I press the wifi slider:
E android.hardware.wifi@1.0-service: Failed to access driver state control param No such file or directory, 2: No such file or directory
E android.hardware.wifi@1.0-service: Failed to load WiFi driver
E android.hardware.wifi@1.0-service: Failed to initialize firmware mode controller
E android.hardware.wifi@1.0-service: Wifi HAL start failed
Update:
I downgraded to Android 12 and the WiFi worked momentarily. However, while I was setting up the device and downloading my apps, the phone restarted itself. After it booted up, the wifi was back to being broken. I am now convinced that this is a motherboard issue like everyone else and that this is a manufacturing issue that Asus will refuse to fix without asking for upwards of $400.

Exactly the same thing happened to me!
I have been using zenfone 8 for 3 years. Everything was working fine until yesterday, but now WiFi and Hot Spot does not switch on.

Hi, I am also affected by this issue.
On Friday (26/7) night I applied a Play System Update. My play system update version is Jun 1, 2024 before the update. It's also the same version afterwards. The update file size is very small, <10MB.
After the system requested that I update, I started suffering from this issue. Appreciate if someone from Asus can have a look thank you.
