I've had my device at ASUS for the past month now and have communicated with their customer service a multitude of times.
According to my rep for my RMA, they will not unlock the bootloader as part of the repair process. They won't do it because it's your device, even with express permission and at my request, they can't do it (didn't say if they lack the resources or lack the technical ability).
I've been told by a few different customer service reps that the app is being "redesigned" and "optimized"... I don't need either, I just want to unlock the bootloader and put on debloated and degoogled rom. But alas, I've gotten the same response... in September or October. With my RMA experience, I'd say their estimated dates are waaaay off. I think we'll be lucky to have it by the end of the year (everyone I've talked to insists that yes, at some point, we will have it).
Buckle up and let's see what happens.
