Experiencing Tidal Streaming Issues on Android 15 (Zenfone 10)

Hi everyone,

Since updating my Zenfone 10 to Android 15, I've been encountering random dropouts when streaming music on Tidal. Every time the music stops unexpectedly, the media player widget (the "Now Playing" display on my lock screen and in the drop-down menu) also disappears. Interestingly, I haven't experienced these issues on Spotify—it's only happening with Tidal. The only problem with Spotify is that I does not show "now playing" correctly on Bluetooth devices. Most songs and albums are now displayed as "Unknown" and I never had that problem before Android 15 either. I can live with this but it sure makes me think the problem does actually lie somewhere in the Android 15/Asus area rather than just Tidal.

I've tried pretty much everything I can think of:

Uninstalling and reinstalling the Tidal app

Clearing the app cache

Adjusting background activity and battery optimization settings

Testing different network connections

I even reached out to Tidal support, received some troubleshooting suggestions, and reported back, but unfortunately, nothing has resolved the issue. I’m curious if anyone else has had similar experiences with Tidal or other music services since Android 15, or if there's a known workaround.

Thanks

for any insights!

Thank you! That means I don't need to switch from Tidal to Qobuz since this is clearly an Asus/Android issue. As I mentioned to @Mattias_ASUS, with more and more users confirming the same problem, this should be enough reason to actively search for a solution. Unfortunately, there's been complete radio silence since pointing it out.

I find it strange that the response to this issue involves telling users to go through extremely advanced troubleshooting steps—even resetting their phones! That’s such an extreme measure. But when someone actually follows these steps and reports that it doesn’t fix the issue, they’re simply given even more complicated troubleshooting routines, including recording and uploading files to Google Drive. Then, when that same person finally identifies the root cause on their own, the response is… silence.

A simple acknowledgment like, “Thank you for reporting this; we are now working on a solution,” would go a long way for all of us waiting. This seems like one of the biggest Android phone bugs ever—especially since it even affects services like Google Voice. Yet, it’s not being taken seriously at all!

I can say with 100% certainty after reading your response that the issue is caused by the Allow background usage setting not sticking. It’s obviously not a coincidence that three people in the same thread have now confirmed the exact same issue and are experiencing the same problem. Just fix it, Asus!

Hi! I have the same issue with SoundCloud and Mixcloud. The music stream stops for a few seconds then continue like nothing happened. Really annoying. Tried, reinstalling and cleaning cache. Same happens with 4g, 5g and wifi. Issues started with A15 update. Zenfone 10. Any ideas?

Try app settings - Tidal - and app battery usage go allow with turning off background app management. Also go Asus android not base. Seems like these helped me with SoundCloud problems.

Correction: It does default as allow but then after using it after download and then put it away it automatically switches to not allowing.

I have exactly the same problem with Tempo since I upgraded Android.  Another music app. It stopped playing after some time in the background. The setting "Allow background usage" is not saved after some time. Please check this issue, it is very annoying.
