After some digging I realize the firmware version is the model number.
Just bought a USB C to HDMI cable - no luck.

Hi - I am having the same problem on my Asus ZenBook. It turns out I have a c port ss 10 (with a 'tritent prong') that doesn't support output display to monitors, only data transfer :(.
My hub connection is via a cport cable. So check your c port on your laptop and it will have a number on it which determines what it is capable of doing . IF no number then it should support all forms of data/video/audio transfer. (try googling - ' docking-connectivity-blog/usb c demystified/ ')
But someone with MUCH more technical knowledge may help . Its very frustrating as a non technical person.
