Asus UK suggested Zandparts in Sweden as one of their UK suppliers of parts. The laptop E410MA is out of warranty. Zandparts sent me a brand new battery but their warranty policy is really odd. For a "Business user", whatever that means, the warranty is restricted 3 months. Obviously this is illegal in the UK to confine us to 3 months.
I rang Asus support and the call handler said the issue was nothing to do with them and I should liaise with the firm in Sweden, yes the one recommended by Asus. Has anyone else in the UK had this warranty problem with European spares? It is totally unacceptable for Asus to suggest a supplier for the UK that seems to be skirting around UK legislation.
When I asked the the call handler for a UK postal address for Asus he could not even be bothered to look. He expected me to look it up on their website. Maybe he did not know how to?
Clearly this is not just a Vivobook issue, but I can't find a section for consumer rights!

We regret to inform you that, as per my understanding, we do not advise users to use parts not provided by ASUS.
If you have independently purchased parts that are not supplied by ASUS, we cannot assess their warranty or reliability.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Your reply is unbelievable, I have two suppliers recommended by Asus UK that are in fact the same company. As mentioned at the top of my original post. This is the Swedish supplier that is stipulating a short warranty. If Asus cannot arrange a spare parts source within the UK that is bound by UK regs then we will have to buy our computers from another manufacturer
The part is a genuine Asus battery and is the most expensive battery I have bought for someone so far.

Could you please provide me with the source of the information you mentioned, 'Asus UK suggested Zandparts in Sweden as one of their UK suppliers of parts'? Was this information obtained through a phone inquiry with local customer service, through an email inquiry, or via another channel?

All by emails from Asus. I have italicised the term "grey channels" myself, an ironic term in the circumstances. I asked GXO about their warranty terms and have yet to get a reply. At least they have a UK base. Next I will do as Asus suggested and approach some "repair partners". I just hope this £74 battery lasts 12 months then all this becomes academic, but someone's spare part will expire one day within 12 months.................

From the description you have provided, I understand that you need a spare part for your device.
Unfortunately, ASUS UK do not sell or supply individual spare parts, whilst I appreciate this may be of some frustration there are many reasons why we do not do this.
Alternatively you can contact some 3rd party European resellers, that sell original spare parts and accessories:

Dear Brian,
Thank you for your response.
We understand your concerns. The supplier you have been referred to is a 3rd party, as ASUS does not provide them directly.
As such, the terms and conditions applied are implemented by them and are independent from ASUS. If you believe your statutory rights are violated, I would advise to take this up with their support team. I'm sure they will be happy to assist.
We recommend this supplier due to the fact that they sell genuine parts, so the user does not have to turn to grey channels, such marketplaces, where the authenticity of the part can be put to question.

Dear Brian,
Thank you for your reply.
You can reach out to a different supplier, if you wish, as per contact email address below:
As we do not sell parts directly to the end users and parts are generally sold to our repair partners who then deal with the customers on their terms, and we would not be influencing those transactions.
If you need to source parts from within the UK you can try emailing one of our repair partners and they can issue a quote for you.
