Hey,
I recently bought a 2TB M2 SSD to freshen up my old gaming laptop that's still running the OS from its single (probably 5400rpm) HDD. Let's just say I got tired of every action taking ages to register.
So I plugged the SSD, used the Samsung app to clone the data from the HDD onto it. I thought I was basically done but upon rebooting and getting into the BIOS, I found out I wasn't given the option to chose the drive to boot on.
Here's what I'm presented with:
From there, I started looking online for answers and realized that everyone seems to be having a modern looking UEFI mode (not sure I'm using the right name so here's an example below I found on google) when I'm still on the old legacy BIOS.
So I figured I should try to update my BIOS. I went on the Asus support website, managed to find my laptop model and downloaded the WinFlash utility as well as MyAsus to know which BIOS version I'm currently running (I could find that in the BIOS but I missed it then).
I am apparently on version 203 and I do have ver 204 available for download but I have no idea when it was released and so I'm not sure it's significantly more recent than 203 and if it will solve my problem.
Then I thought that maybe going from legacy to UEFI isn't actually achieved by just updating the BIOS so I kept looking online and found this Microsoft page teaching me how to convert a W10 install from legacy to UEFI.
So I'm a little confused as to what the best course of action is and I thought it best to come here and ask for help before I did anything stupid and/or useless.
Would anyone be so kind as to let me know how to solve my problem?

Cheers!

@Nox_MD
Based on the serial number, your laptop model is G741JM, which also goes by the name G771JM.
The reason for the second name is that the product is sold under different names in various regions.
BIOS 204 is for G771JMC.
BIOS 203 is for G771JM.
The M.2 slot on the G741JW/G771JM only supports SATA M.2 drives.
The Samsung 990 Pro is an NVMe PCIe SSD, so it is not compatible with the hardware.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Did you update the BIOS, or not? Highly suggest to update the BIOS first, if not. Then look for the setting.

Hi
CSM is Disabled, which I believe is the Legacy type. So you may already be in UEFI state.
I would disable Fast Boot though.
Update the BIOS and post the results please.

When I check what are the BIOS available for download on MyAsus, I get the following.
It says the 204 version is for G771JMC when my model is a G771JM. Isn't that going to be a problem?
Not to mention that my actual model (the one written on the sticker on the backplate) is a G741JW for which I find a few more BIOS versions online.
So should I trust MyAsus in spite of what's written at the back of my laptop? And if so, should I upgrade to version 204 if the model doesn't exactly match mine?

Strange the sticker on the back prevails I'm afraid unless the back was somehow replaced?
