Great news for Asus ROG Strix SCAR 18 G835LX owners.....

For everyone who want to use Asus ROG Strix SCAR 18 G835LX (2025) on Linux Ubuntu/Mint - we can confirm that it is working properly. But first you need to prepare your laptop and process the next steps below.
1)Check for the latest BIOS and update it to the latest version (currently 318).
2)Even if you want to use such laptop not for the games, we recommend to have installed both OS (Windows & Linux). Sooner or later you will need to configure your laptop's "lighting zones" or update your "mouse" firmware. For that needs you certainly need Asus Armoury Create software that is working only under the Windows.
3)Download windows 11 installer from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11. Please select 2-nd option (Create Windows 11 Installation Media). Don't forget to download LAN drivers from Asus web-site and upload it to your flash drive, you will need it while installing Windows.
4)Please, BEFORE making some changes inside BIOS, copy ALL files(except Windows system files) from your SSD devices into external device. Especially when you have 2 SSD as RAID 0.
5)Make sure, once again, that you have copied all data that you need later from internal SSD to external. If you have SSDs as RAID, we will switch to "non-raid" mode and all data on internal SSD devices will be lost.
6)In BIOS go to "NVMe Configuration" and delete all RAID items. After you need to see 2 SSD as independent devices.
7)In BIOS check and set next options:
- Advanced:
- ErP -> enabled
- Display Mode -> Dynamic
- Auto install app service mechanism -> toggle off
- Network Stack Configuration -> disabled
- VMD setup menu -> disabled
- Boot
- Fast boot -> disabled
- Security
- Secure boot -> disabled

8)Install Windows 11 first. While installing Windows you can create 3 partitions: 1)for Linux 2)for swap 3)windows with NTFS file system.
9)Install all necessary software under the Windows, including "Asus Armoury Create" and configure "lighting zones" if you need it.
10)Install Linux Ubuntu/Mint 22.1.
11)Install Linux kernel 6.14 as it is necessary for the LAN (If you want to use kernel 6.8 you need to install r8125 LAN driver from here - https://www.realtek.com/Download/List?cate_id=584).
12)Open /etc/default/grub and add "pcie_aspm=off" inside the next line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=off"
13)sudo update-grub

Good luck with your Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 G835LX (2025) and have fun

If you want to use your SSD as RAID 0 (Intel RST technology), you can try some hints here - https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2359535#p2359535. Please note that using Intel RST under the linux is NOT recommended way and you can have a lot additional issues and bugs.

UPD:
After updating BIOS to the latest version 323 - issue with shutdown solved and we don't need to do actions in steps 12 + 13 above. So no need to add "pcie_aspm=off" to the grub.
I don't know if some Asus architectures/owners are viewing this forum about "product" feedback from the customers. But if so, just small hints from open source community regarding ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 (2025):
We really hope that all future version of ROG Strix Scar 18 will have the next BIOS options (or possibilities to change it) that allow us to use Linux:
1) Display Mode -> Dynamic
2) VMD setup menu -> disabled
3) Boot -> Fast boot -> disabled
4) Security-> Secure boot -> disabled
If somebody here are able to send this feedback to the necessary department - please respond here and please send it.

With hope
Thanks in Advance
