Tuf Gaming VG328 not working with MacBook

Help please. Just received the Tuf Gaming #VG328H1B. Connected to MacBook and I can see the apple logo  & menu options on top left of VG328 but nothing else. Also, mouse doesn't move on VG328.

based on your issue, may I ask whether you're using the HDMI cable that come with the monitor?

Please make sure you connect the cable correctly.

Have you try to cross test with other device or cable?

Whether the moniotr can power on?

May I ask whether the power indicatior light is on when you open the MacBook?

Hello, thank you for your response! My MacBook air does not have a standard hdmi port; it requires a lightening cable. So I have the hdmi end in the proper port on the monitor and the lightening cable end in the mac. The monitor does power on and I can see the apple header menu at the top of the monitor. But nothing else from my laptop desktop displays.
