Disabled SIM Automatically Actives on Reboot

I have a secondary SIM I use infrequently, and only when I travel. I like to keep it disabled to avoid charges as it isn't from/for my home country. However, unlike my previous devices, when I reboot my Zenfone, it automatically re-enables this (secondary) disabled SIM. This is quite annoying. It would be great if this setting persisted reboots.

Hello everyone!

This is actually an AOSP behavior, so if you reboot your phone the disabled SIM will always become active.

Okay. I personally believe this is something that manufacturers can and should improve on, then. Not all AOSP decisions are good, after all.

I fail to imagine it being likely or consistent that one's reason for disabling a SIM would disappear when rebooting. I'd like to see changing this behaviour, or if you really believe I'm wrong there, making it an option, would be worthwhile.

I had a Galaxy A52 before I got the Zenfone 9 and it didn't have this problem, so AOSP clearly doesn't enforce this behavior, or at least doesn't prevent the manufacturer from changing it.

I agree also because on ZenFone 8 the option is retained upon reboot.

So what's different on ZenFone 9?

I think the problem is fixed now. I just got update version 33.0804.2060.165 today and the second SIM card wasn't activated after reboot. I rebooted it again to see whether it was a one time thing, but it wasn't, the deactivated SIM remained so after reboot.
