My phone randomly bricked and it seems to be a common theme with these phones and nothing would turn it back on and no lights show up while charging and windows doesnt even recognize that it's plugged in. ive tried to go to a repair shop and they said there wasn't really a way to know what was wrong and parts seem to be completely unavailable. I'm wondering if there was anyone who was able to at least save some of the data from their phone while having this happen or if my data is lost since my last backup was awhile ago.

No shot. I managed to get mine in a half booting state and through adb and Qualcomm flash tools pull a raw data of every partition.
I have 128 gigs of files on my computer.... That are completely useless. Android encryption is using keys in the mobo or CPU. New one of those means data is effectively unable to be decrypted, ever. Unless someone finds a sever flaw which is doubtful.
The fix for bricked phones done by ASUS is new cpu/mobo. Unfortunately your data is gone. Like the rest of ours.
Post your experience in the megathread to all Zenfone 8 owners if you haven't already. And stop buying ASUS. Send your money elsewhere.
I used to think that buying from Taiwan was better than that cheap Chinese crap... Now I see that this BS honor culture crap means they'll never admit they did wrong and a recall and recompense needs to be issued. Guess my next shiny piece of plastic will come from a country that actually cares enough about keeping their consumer.
Best of luck.
