Speaker distortion on Zenbook 14

Detailed description: I seem to have exactly the same issue as described here for an Asus Zenbook 14 UX425EA https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/50125/speaker-distortion-at-loud-volumes on my new Zenbook 14 UX435EG. At higher volumes (although that can be as low as around 25), there is distortion coming from the left speaker, especially with certain types of low frequency sounds. The right speaker seems unaffected, as there is no distortion when I play from that speaker only (nor is there any when using speakers etc). I was a bit worried about this until I came across the linked post, and I discovered that just like there, if I hold the laptop near the speakers, the distortion disappears. Also, just as in the linked post, if I turn off DTS, the distortion drops (though volume does too), but it also seems to drop if use the Graphic EQ part of the DTS app to reduce sound in the 300Hz range, even if I boost it for the 1kHz, 3kHz and 10kHz. Are there any suggestions for how else I could manage this problem?

Further testing with different sounds/videos, the degree to which changing things in the Graphic EQ section reduces distortion seems to vary based on the source - come across some in which I did need to reduce it for the higher frequencies. However, holding the laptop tightly by the left speaker always seems to remove it.
