Hi can someone tell me what the maximum size of SSD can go in this Vivobook?
Also, there is a piece of foam & tape on the SSD with the tape covering the SSD screw. Do I need to put this back on? (I’m assuming that the tape is high heat tape, I can purchase it online).
Motherboard is ASUSTek Computer Inc. X515EA (U3E1)
Many thanks!

@Zooks
I provide a rough description of the operation process as follows:
1.Disconnect the HDD FFC from the Motherboard and remove the HDD .
Assembly notice: Insert FFC to the bottom until just accord with the line when lock the latch.
2. Remove the HDD Rubber.
3. Tear off the HDD Mylar.
4. Disconnect the HDD Cable.
Due to the complexity of dismantling this component, I would recommend that you bring the laptop to our service center for assistance from our staff in replacing it. Thank you.

Thanks Falcon. Do you know if the maximum HDD is 1 TB as well, the same as the maximum SSD for the X515EA’s?

@Zooks
Yes, it's also 1TB.

Wow thanks so much Falcon, I’m really excited to upgrade my Vicobook! I’ll probably swap out the SSD by myself, and reinstall the OS, do I have to disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard first? (It looks like there is a clamp on both sides of the cable connector).
I’ll probably have to take it in to a certified ASUS professional shop to put in a HDD, as you recommended, as I don’t think I know how to mount a 2.5 inch drive in the bay. (I’m putting in a blue instead of a black because of the heat issue).
Also I’m thinking of putting in more ram, as the ram is running 58 to 65 % at idle with my antivirus software running. I know that it is DDR4 SODIMM 3200 mHz, but I found that the ram could be as much as 24 GB with my model, so another 16 GB with the 8 GB that’s already in there. (Some of the 515’s have only 4GB soldered in, but it says that they can take 20 GB).
Are these numbers correct? Or is it just another 8 GB + the 8 GB soldered in totalling 16 GB.
That pretty much does the ungraded for me! Thanks for all your help, Falcon!

1.do I have to disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard first?
>> Yes, please disconnect the cable connecting the battery to the motherboard first.
2.just another 8 GB + the 8 GB soldered in totalling 16 GB.
>> This is indeed the data we have tested before, and it's the response I can provide from my standpoint. If you intend to upgrade/install memory with a larger capacity, we cannot guarantee its stability and compatibility.
