Max. SSD for ASUS X1500EA X515EA

Hi can someone tell me what the maximum size of SSD can go in this Vivobook?

Also, there is a piece of foam & tape on the SSD with the tape covering the SSD screw. Do I need to put this back on? (I’m assuming that the tape is high heat tape, I can purchase it online).

Motherboard is ASUSTek Computer Inc. X515EA (U3E1)

Many thanks!

@Zooks
X515EA's Max. capacity for one M.2 SSD is 1TB.

>>Are you referring to the yellow tape in the picture? If so, that sticker is just a tamper-proof sticker. It doesn't need to be reattached once removed.

Thank you.

Okay great! Thanks for the quick reply, Falcon. I also noticed there is space for a HDD. Is that for a 1 TB maximum as well?

i watched a YouTube about installing the HDD just now; (he actually installed an SSD in the drive bay, it was a different model; I don’t think that will work with this Laptop), and he put a piece of black foam tape on the top of the SSD. Is that to hold it in place? Would that be 3 mm? or 5 mm foam tape? I would have thought that an HDD would mount with screws.

Many thanks!

@Zooks
Your laptop has only one SSD slot, and beneath the tape, there is a screw securing the SSD.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for replying again, Falcon.

I have attached a screenshot of the 2.5 inch bay for a Hard Disk Drive. How do I secure the drive in the bay? Many thanks in advance.
