It happens sometimes twice a day so i don't think that's the issue.

when I pick up the phone it should show a fingerprint where i should put my finger right? but sometimes it doesn't and no matter how i hold my finger in that spot it will not show unless i open it through power button and start typing the password.

sourabhsu30Next time it happens, please check if it says "Pin is required when you restart your device" because it might be that your phones have restarted without you knowing.https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/131118#Comment_131118
This issue has been happening with me also. Even without using screen protector the fingerprint scanner does not show up when trying to unlock phone.

simo97.codegaI have the same problem at boot, fingerprint scanner disappearing and only pin is working. In older firmware fingerprint scanner worked normally at bootTo me it happens every morning just one time, or when I don't use it for many hours, I can't say exactly how many hours.
I would be curious to know if is a security system or if it really do a reboot by itself.
It's not an issue anyway, just put the pin and the scanner is back.
Putting the pin takes 2 second, I read someone advicing to factory reset or bring to service, what kind of idiot advice is this?
