Does a thunderbolt 4 output of an eGPU support thunderbolt 3 laptops?

I had a laptop with 2 Thunderbolts3 ports and I want to build an eGPU for gaming purposes, but the eGPU is using Thunderbolt 4 cable and output. I want to ask that will the eGPU work when I plugged it into my laptop. Thank you!
