ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (FA507) typing issue

Hi I just got my ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (FA507) recently a few months ago.
It has this typing issue, where whenever i type some things out, the cursor just jumps randomly to somewhere else!

For example, when i want to type: "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog".
Out of nowhere, the cursor randomly jumps to some part of the sentence/paragraph.
For example, "the quick brown fo'cursor now appears here!'x jumps over ..."

There are some other typing issues going on, but this is the main one for now.
It is mighty frustrating - why is this happening and how do i resolve it?

You're not alone, gggeh. Theres some others who have the same.... Here's few things to help to fix it:

Why It Happens
Touchpad sensitivity too high
Accidental palm touches while typing can move the cursor
Pointer settings misconfigured
“Hide pointer while typing” can cause erratic behavior
Lower Touchpad Sensitivity

Try these simple ones first >>>
Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad
Set sensitivity to Low
Driver conflicts or outdated firmware
Touchpad or keyboard drivers may need updating

Disable “Hide Pointer While Typing”
Open Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options
Uncheck “Hide pointer while typing”

Disable Touchpad Temporarily
If you use an external mouse, disable the touchpad:
Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices
Right-click touchpad > Disable

If no luck try these>>>>

Update Drivers
Use MyASUS app or Device Manager to update:
Touchpad driver
Keyboard driver
BIOS update

Try TouchFreeze (Optional)

This kind of issue is actually quite common on laptops, especially when typing for long periods. What’s happening is usually not a keyboard fault but accidental touchpad contact or driver sensitivity problems, which can cause the cursor to jump while typing.

Here are a few practical things to try:

  1. Adjust touchpad sensitivity  Go to Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Touchpad and lower the sensitivity. That often reduces unintended cursor movement.

  2. Enable “Palm Check” or “Touchpad Delay”  If available in the touchpad settings, turn this on. It helps the system ignore accidental palm touches while typing.

  3. Update or reinstall the touchpad and keyboard drivers  Use MyASUS or Device Manager to make sure everything is up to date.

  4. Test with an external keyboard and mouse  If the issue disappears, it’s definitely related to the touchpad, not the keyboard itself.

  5. As a quick workaround, temporarily disable the touchpad while typing if you mostly use a mouse.

Most of the time, adjusting the palm rejection or updating the touchpad driver solves the problem completely. If it keeps happening even after that, it may be a hardware sensitivity issue, and ASUS Support can help check it under warranty.

It is recommend checking if the same issue occurs when the touchpad is disabled.
If the issue does not occur, it is likely caused by accidental contact with the touchpad.
Thank you.

hey all, thanks for your replies! yes i have disabled touchpad when i have a mouse in.
Problem seems to have been addressed.
Just hope it doesnt cause much issues when I do not have a mouse plugged in, but would try the other methods as suggested above if it comes then
