So I have an Asus Mesh-network with an Asus BT8 as Router. My internet provider has some problems resulting in my modem losing connection about 2-3 times a day for around 5 minutes. All my neighbours experiences the same and the internet provider has been investigating the problems for 2 week now but haven't found the cause.
So I need some redundancy. Since I'm a happy amateur and not a network professional I thought I should ask for advice.
Should the combo BT8 and 4G-N16 work as a backup on secondary WAN that will kick in automatically when the internet goes down?
And will this configuration work?

Can use a 1G port for secondary WAN. For Network Monitoring you should probably choose one DNS Query or Ping.

Yes, using the Asus BT8 router and 4G-N16 as a secondary WAN connection should work as a reliable backup when your primary internet connection drops. You can configure Dual WAN in the BT8's web interface, setting your primary WAN to your regular modem and the 4G-N16 as the secondary connection. Enable the failover option so the router automatically switches to the 4G network when the primary connection goes down. After setup, test the failover to ensure seamless switching between the two connections, and monitor the status to ensure everything works as expected.
