RT-BE88U repeated WLAN interruptions

HeadCrash
Star I

Hello dear community, I have had the RT-BE88U for about 5 months now. Since I have been using the router, I have noticed that the WLAN keeps crashing. In the log I keep finding the following error

kernel: WLC_SCB_DEAUTHORIZE error

All devices can then no longer access the Internet or the internet via WLAN (5GHz). Switching to the 2.4GHz WLAN solves the problem. In order to be able to use the 5GHz again, I have to restart the router.

After looking here in the forum, it seems as if I have the same problem with the router as in this thread

https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/networking/rt-be92u-on-going-random-losses-of-internet-wan-access/td-p/4...

I currently have the latest FW 3.0.0.6.102_37103-g8c8d7fb_980-gbd310_BB0B on the router

I would be happy if someone knew what the problem was or could help me.

Hi @HeadCrash ,

To better assist you with this issue, we would like to confirm the following:

  1. Firmware version: Did this issue start after you updated to the latest firmware? Does the issue disappear if you revert to an older firmware version?
  2. Hard reset: We recommend that you reset the router to its factory settings. This will help rule out any software configuration errors. [Wireless Router] When Standard Reset Isn’t Working: Hard Factory Reset - Models list | Official Sup...
  3. Wired connection: Do you encounter the same issue when connecting your device to the router via a wired connection?
  4. ISP confirmation: We recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to check if your internet connection is stable and if other users have reported similar issues.

If the issue persists after completing the above steps, we recommend that you use the system reporting function of your router to send us the relevant information.

Please follow the steps below to report the issue, and we will assist you:

  1. Connect your device (PC, laptop, etc.) to the router, then open the Web management interface (http://router.asus.com/) and log in to your router.
  2. Click on "System Administration" and select "Problem Report."
  3. Fill in your region, email address (required), ASUS service/case number, issue type, and a description of the issue.
  4. Please read and agree to the privacy policy and relevant service terms.
  5. Click "Send" to submit your form.

Additionally, please send us the following information via private message: product serial number, the time the problem report was submitted, the email used for the problem report, the time the issue occurred, the MAC address of your device, and a network architecture diagram of your current environment.

If your network is down, the UI page will generate a link for downloading offline data. Please click the link to download the data, compress it into a ZIP file, and provide a cloud link for us to analyze.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for the initial assessment and suggested solution. I reset my router accordingly with a hard reset and set it up again, the same applies to the other two AiMesh routers that have the same FW and the same model.

Today I had the problem again that I couldn't surf with my iPhone (5GHz WLAN), while a HomePod was running in parallel and streaming (on the 2.4GHz WLAN). I turned on the laptop at the same time and tested it, and it worked with the laptop with 5GHz WLAN. I then turned the WLAN on the iPhone off and on again, and it worked on the iPhone too.

I currently suspect that there is a problem with roaming in the AiMesh system. The iPhone switch from the main node to the mesh node (satellite) does not work properly and therefore no data goes through. The data throughput only works when the iPhone is disconnected and connected to the mesh node.
