constant dropouts and packet loss on ma-25 moca adapter

I am experiencing packet loss between two brand new ma-25 moca adapters.

There is nothing in between them, no splitters no tv - it is literally just a long run of coax (20m or so). It will stay connected then periodically the moca light will start flashing and there will be packet loss. At times it will stay entirely disconnected for up to 5 minutes at a time, then just reconnect randomly.

Other times it will stay connected fine for a long period of time, then just intermittently disconnect and/or packet loss.

Is there any way to troubleshoot this apart from return them?

Could there possibly be physical damage to the cable somehow?  If you have an extra coax cable to try, connect the two adapters on that good cable and see if they present the same issues.
