I've had my RT-AX56U for just over 3 years. It's worked perfectly for all that time, until roughly 3 weeks ago.
Since then, it becomes very slow (basically unresponsive) every few minutes, for 30-60 seconds. This happens on both wired and wireless.
If I reboot it, it seems better for 20-30 minutes, but soon starts to play up again. I thought it might be RAM usage, but it happens even when the router still has ~ 150MB of RAM unused.
I've tried a different router, just to make sure it's not a connection/ISP issue. Definitely the router though.
I don't think it's the result of a bad firmware update, as the last firmware update was way back on 29th May (v3.0.0.4.386_51679). Is it possible something with the router's hardware has gone bad?
I'm going to try a factory reset but, other than that, am a bit stumped. Appreciate any thoughts.
thanks
Dan

I figured out what was causing this in the end. It was the Asus AiProtection (aka Trend Micro). Tried disabling it all, and no more slow router. 👍
