Very slow session establishment when connected to satellite ZenWifi units

As with others in the ZenTalk forum, I'm having significant problems with internet connections when connected to satellite units.

Once a connection to a website is successfully established, the speed and stability is just fine. However, the intial connection can take 30 seconds, time out, or just wait indefinitely. This doesn't occur when connected directly to the main router, but does occur for connections through a satellite - even when a device is wired directly into the satellite. The problem is intermittent, but common (several times an hour).

This problem occurs for all types of devices (MacOS, IOS, Windows, Android, IoT), for any TCP session to the internet.

Setup:
- 1 BT6 main router, 2 BT6 satellites
- Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_56839 on all 3 units
- Satellite RSSI is -55 or less for 2.4/5/6Ghz
- 60 clients (mostly IoT)

Some completed troubleshooting steps:
- Connecting by IP instead of hostname
- Connecting to an on-prem upstream web server
- Satellite optimization through web interface
- Setting various backhaul connection priorites (2/5/6GHz)
- Disabling MLO, both fronthaul and backhaul
- Disabling all TrendMicro services
- Rebooting all ZenWifi devices

Other interesting information:
- The system log shows a high number of this error: "kernel: WiFi@ERROR.RSV,CFG80211OS_RxMgmt() 1256: net dev apcli0 is not running."
- Client packet captures show a high number of TCP retransmissions

Again, the problem is not with the speed or stability of any established TCP session. The problem is with establishing new TCP sessions when connected to a satellite unit. It's intermittent, but very reproducable.

Thanks for your attention.

I opened a case with ASUS support last Friday on this issue. They escalated it and promised a response within 2 business days. It's Thursday now. Frustrating.

My whole family keeps saying "I hate this wifi." It's hard not to agree at this point.
