Asus zenwifi be14000 upload speed issues

I recently upgraded to an ASUS Zenwifi be14000 and am having some issues with upload speeds.

My setup

I have ATT BGW320 router setup in IP passthrough for 1ghz speed connection. Asus router is connected from the ATT router Lan port to the wan port on the ASUS router by cat 6 cable, new. I then have the Lan connection on the ASUS router with a cat 6 cable to the switches for the home. First issues I noticed was incredibly low speeds both up and down. So, after reading a forum I turned QOS on, Lan speeds returned to normal. Wi-Fi was then tested by moving to different channels and finding the best ones. Download speeds are great at above 800, but upload speeds are horrendous. I get 23 max on upload and it doesn't matter what changes I make the Wi-Fi remains terrible for uploads. I have fast DNS setup under wan per support person I spoke with and am on the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 settings. Is there something I'm missing that is affecting the upload speeds?

@luntatix4:

Have a very similar issue with the same hardware.

Mi plan is Verizon Fios 300Mbps. With Asus BE5000 getting 320Mbps download and 360Mbps upload speed.

After "upgrading" to BE14000 getting 320Mbps download and 2.5Mbps upload. No matter what changes I make to the network settings.

I have the same problem. Asus Zenwifi BE14000, purchased today.

If I plug my computer directly into the FIOS ONT, I get the full 300/300 performance I'm paying for. If I plug the BE14000 main unit into the ONT using the very same cable, and run a speed test straight from the router or via a computer connected wired or wirelessly, I get the same 300+ Mbps download speeds but am limited to between 1.73 and 4.42 Mbps upload (ran several tests as I kept trying things).

I saw a forum post somewhere in which someone suggest putting a switch between the two because the problem is that the 2.5G port on the BE14000 is specifically incompatible with the FIOS ONT, but I don't have a compatible switch and don't intend to go spend more money, I'll just return this and buy some other brand if this is the actual issue.

Anyone have a way to determine whether this is really the problem? I'll try calling ASUS support tomorrow, they're closed now.

Other info: QoS is disabled. Tried several cables, all work with the computer connected directly and none work with the BE14000. Firmware is up to date, Verizon tech was here today and verified the ONT is up to date and functioning properly (and this is validated by getting the proper speeds with a computer connected directly).
