Recently experiencing very noticeable packet loss with online gaming. A first I'm thinking it a problem with the game servers, but find out it's only me. Rebooted everything in the network, nothing works, still experiencing lag in game and packet loss on just about everything.
The Wifi adapter works fine, but the onboard network card does not. I start checking network cables , the various mesh routers on the network and anything else i can think might be causing the problem. I uninstalled the adapter and reinstalled it with the latest drivers two or three times hoping it would resolve. Unfortunately, it does not.
One last time, I uninstall the adapter and the drivers. This time when i reboot, i just let windows identify the driver instead of installing the latest. Problem resolved. Finally am gaming again without issue.
Problem is I'm running a quite old driver (9.1.412.2015) now instead of the latest (1126.16.1121.2023). Is there any harm in running such an old driver? Any potential security issues or vulnerabilities that may have been patched with more recent drivers?

Hello @Londroth
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you kindly check if disabling the EEE feature resolves the packet loss issue while using the latest driver version, V1126.16.1121.2023?
For reference, you can locate the setting via Device Manager > Realtek PCIe 5GbE Family Controller Properties > Energy-Efficient Ethernet.
Thank you.

This did appear to work. I'll monitor over the next couple of days and let you know if anything different happens
