Screenpad issues

Hi..I'm new here and not really the techy type, but hoping for answers.

I bought a zenbook 14 ux435EG just this May. Everything was fine but after some system updates from windows, I can't seem to tap on the apps on the screenpad.

When I turn on the laptop, the screenpad turns on, the apps can be seen, but when I try to tap or use the screen, it's as if the screenpad functions as a mere motion sensor. On screenpad mode (F6), what I get is a gray pointer instead. The mousepointer vanishes.

  • Hello Tan,

Can you share some screenshot or video of the issue?

    Thank you.

  • I'm getting something similar. Movements are tracked, but in mirror (up is down, left is right etc). Doesn't register clicks on screenxpert apps.

  • Have also updated bios, done factor reset, updated all drivers...

been having the same bug, just appeared out of no where, cant really tell when it happened, i think it was after the recent windows update. really frustrating

  • Now raised with level 2 tech, using chat, have sent them a video youtube link NDjiF4soEwo . Can see from comments there that this is a problem for others too. Windows update seems to have broken it. In

I having the same bug. Buy my zenbook UX435EG in june. After all upgrade the ScreenPad do not work correctly. The Normal Touchpad Mode work well, but with the Screenpad Mode it is impossible to switch on the Number Key and the Screenpad ist only useable "as Touchpad" with a underground like a Screenpad.

  • Dear all,

Can you share the full name of the Windows update or a screenshot of your Windows update history?

Also, what is your ASUS System Control Interface driver and Screen Xpert version?

    Thank you.

  • Here you go :).

  • To get ScreenXpert Version I typed 'screenxpert' into taskbar search, and right clicked, then selected settings. It's at the top of the settings page.

  • I have the same control interface and screenxpert version. 3.0.10.20 and 2.1.16.0.

  • Dear all,

Thank you all for the information.

I have reported them for further investigation.

So the issue stays the same even after rebooting and reinstalling all the driver?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Blake, yes after re-installation, rebooting, reinstalling drivers.

  • Hi guys.

Please add me to the list.

I have a Zenbook ux435G. After updating my laptop with the recent windows update, I got the same bug. The screen pad can be switched on and the apps are visible on the screen. Yet, when you try to open the apps, they are not working though you can observe your "clicks" mirroring on the main screen.

Rebooting, terminating, and repairing/resetting the ScreenXpert app are not fixing the issue. It seems the new windows update is responsible for the buggy screen pad.

Hope a solution to be available so that we can enjoy our "special" feature.

  • Hi there,

May I have a screenshot of your windows update history as well?

It would be great to compare as much information as possible to be more accurate.

    Thank you so much.

So glad I found this thread. This same thing is happening to me, and it's been driving me crazy. Reboots and reinstalling doesn't fit it. Just started happening at some point in July. Used to work fine. I have a UX435EG

  • Dear all,

Does uninstall those latest Windows KB update bring the screenpad back to work?

    Thank you.

  • Nope, because I was advised to do a re-set of the system, and this means I can't roll back the KB update...

    Hi Blake,

    Thank you for the reply.

Please find below screenshots of windows update history log and ScreenXpert version.

Moreover. I would like to add that when I used my physical mouse, I was able to click on the screenpad apps and was able to open then. It seems that the ScreenXpert is working but the touch capabilities are disabled.

    Hi Team!

I have gotten some great news! I found this video on youtube. Another Asus user had the same problem and found the solution.

"Help!! My Screenpad 2.0 Stopped Working! Here is how I fixed mine." By "Asus Vivobook and Screenpad Tips & Tricks" (sorry but I'm new thus I cannot post links yet)

At first, I was hesitant to attempt but I decided to take my risks. As a result, my screenpad is working again! Actually, it's a typical uninstallation of ScreenXpert/MyAsus apps and reinstallation of those along with some drivers in a specific sequence.

Blake, please confirm this is the official solution as well for future reference.
