Zenfone 7 external microphone support for default camera app

I love my Zenfone 7, however there are two updates I would like to see. One is already discussed in another topic (app icons on always on display).
The biggest thing I miss is the ability to use my external microphone for recording video in the default camera app.
Luckily, I can do this with the google camera. It is so important to me, that I would have returned it if there was no gcam.
This phone is ideal for vloggers, but without the external mic, the functionality is severely compromised.
Please implement external mic support and let me get rid of the gcam.

I tried myself with the USB to jack I use and the option appeared (I did not try to record though).

Interesting... My Saramonic Blink 500 doesn't work though 😟 It only works in the google camera.

I'm not sure if our app only supports wired mics. Before I ask internally, I have to ask if you got the external mic option like in the video above and if you tried switching to external. I know its a stupid question but I have to ask 🙂

Nope, no such option. I see the same options whether the mic is plugged in or not.
