No image in my incoming MMS, but RCS are OK.

Hi everyone.

I have a Zenfone 8 on android 13.

Since my phone have RCS as default text message, I can't view attachment or image on the incoming SMS/MMS.

Sometimes, I receive my wife texto as RCS or MMS/SMS (Same for other messages from different personnes).

When the message is a RCS, there's no problem. When I reveive one as SMS/MMS, there is no image on it, just a turning arrow with an "X" in the center.

I tried uninstalling Google Message and reinstaled it, I reinitialized all the connection (data, wifi) restart many time and also tried another sms application without more succes. (So, not seem related to Google message)

I went on my cellphone service provider support community, and someone asked me to reset the APN settings with the link provided here:  (  https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/faq/phone-how-to-set-your-access-point-name-apn-on-your-asus-phone/ta-p/...

but I don't have the cog symbole at th right of the sim menu, only a toggle switch.

(The APN search keyword on the search menu in my phone settings, return nothing.)

My questions are:

Why google message doesn't display images in SMS/MMS mode?

If it's a APN related problem, how to have acces to this menu in the zenfone8?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @boug

Thank you for contacting us! We understand you’re experiencing an issue where images sent via SMS/MMS are not displaying in RCS. This can sometimes be influenced by compatibility issues, operator settings, or app-related factors.

To help resolve this, we suggest checking your APN (Access Point Names) settings. Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Use the search bar within Settings and type "Access Point Names" or "APN".
  3. Select the option that appears and verify the settings.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.

I made a new APN with the information provided by a superuser from the Network provider, sadly without solving my issue.
