Android 13

Hi mods,
I'd like to kindly ask you if there is any chance of our device getting Android 13?? I'm aware of the situation that ASUS never promised such long SW support but when I see other manufacturers doing that I think it would be worth considering that. Devices like OnePlus 8 or Samsung Galaxy S20 are/will be getting Android 13 and they're aprox. 6 months older than ZF7. On our market the price of ZF7 wasn't lower than the price of these 2 competitors.
The thing is that there are not that many other devices without notch/punch hole or whatever is it called and tbh I still like my ZF7 (even though it's missing VoLTE and has other issues). I was using the battery management features you included in the system and because of that my battery life is still decent and I can imagine using my device for another 2 years and that means a lot as previously I used to switch my device once a year or once in two years at maximum.
I don't want to throw my money away buying another device if this one is perfectly fine and other manufacturers are providing SW support for similar devices (date of hitting the market, selling price, tier). Resale value of ASUS phones here is rubbish, I'd easily get at least twice as much for S20 or OP8 here and I'd be much more future proofed with these devices as community is also much bigger there. At XDA there are basically no up to date custom ROMs and even if there were I wouldn't be able to fully use the device because of SafetyNet check.
If there is no Android 13 or regular security patches/updates for the next 2 years I definitely won't buy ASUS phone again.

Wow dude, no need to go offensive, ok? smh 🤷‍:male_sign:. You pinged me for an answer, and I was simply telling the truth that you should check the BIOS & Firmware page on ASUS' website. That's the easiest way for anyone to find out about the latest update. If it's not posted there, no one would have an update.

Looks like you misunderstood what the time November is referring to. When it comes to ASUS' security updates (specifically on the old phones), there's a difference between WHEN vs WHAT the security update is. It's referring to the release time of the update/patch, not the corresponding security patch. The latest update in November was for the September security patch, that's all.

I think he's upset about you questioning his demand for security patches. He never stated that he switched, he stated he purchased it to try it out and see how it goes.
Also there is nothing wrong about complaining about a basic security implementation. At this point you're the strange one,

Well ok. Perhaps we've received different messages (or he changed his mind not long ago) because a while ago he's told me and others that he was switching to Apple with the new iPhone when it's delivered and saying bye-bye to ASUS.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with complaining about security patches, as we all want better SW support from these phone manufacturers. I find it strange simply because he could've just walked away with the iPhone which has a better SW support policy than ASUS phones, leave ZF7 as he has said, and just move on.

Congratulations, you can throw your Asus phone in the trash, after the sale, asus doesn't even care, they won't take care of you in the slightest, it's a shame and it's sad that we don't have any brand Asus device yet.

well great...ASUS Zenfone line phones here cost about the same as Galaxy S line phones so guess what I'm gonna buy next 🙂 they should finally ship phones with Qualcomm SoC here (better performance and photo/video quality and lower battery consumption in comparison with Exynos chips) and they offer 4 major Android OS updates + one extra year of security patches, GoodLock modules are also great stuff...
if ASUS at least released security patches for another year or two and did it on time...

I'd be happy with the December security patch. I only keep this as a spare ( and because I love it) but with no more security patches I don't think I will keep it . Asus has turned me into an iPhone user as my main driver, well done Asus apple thank you
