Not sure if this is an Android 15 problem, but if zooming in and out whilst video recording then a juddering noise is heard on the final recording. I suspect this is coming from the vibration motor transmitting sound directly to the microphones. There is an option for 'vibration feeback' in the camera settings but surely this should turn off during an actual video recording? Or perhaps there should be a subsequent option to have the feedback, but to switch it off when recording is active? The vibration feeback is useful when taking photos, but for video there should be an option to stop it when recording is occuring.

Hi Mattias,
I've done some more experimenting and actually now think the noise was from vibration between my thumb/fingers and the phone case that came on when I was zooming! Then on testing I heard the same noise when zooming in when putting my ear to the phone. Having looked at the video again that I made I now realise the noise wasn't in sync with the zoom (I'd been watching via Chromecast I think and that had its own sync issues which compounded the apparent problem). If I put my ear to the phone whilst recording video, and zoom in and out, the vibration feedback doesn't occur, so the logic is correct and feedback is silenced when in record mode, and no doubt this issue had been accounted for by the programmers!

So, it looks like it was a problem with my fingers slipping on the case whilst video recording!

Hello @mark_coley
This sounds a bit odd, could you maybe make a short video showing the issue? This way I can show it to the devs.
I would also need to know which firmware version you are on too, you can find this by going to the Settings > System > About phone > Build number.

That sounds like a frustrating issue, especially for those who frequently record videos. It does seem likely that the vibration motor is causing interference with the microphones. If the "vibration feedback" setting in the camera app doesn’t automatically disable during video recording, it would make sense for manufacturers to introduce an option to turn it off only while recording.
It might be worth checking if this issue persists across different camera apps or if a software update addresses it. Also, a temporary workaround could be manually disabling vibration feedback before recording. Hopefully, future updates refine this feature to avoid unwanted audio interference. In the meantime, if you're into challenging games, check out Getting Over It APK, where overcoming obstacles is part of the experience!

Hi @Mattias_ASUS and @mark_coley,
This is an interesting discussion, and I appreciate the effort you’ve both put into troubleshooting the issue. @mark_coley, your discovery that the noise was caused by your fingers slipping on the phone case during zooming is a great reminder of how external factors can impact audio quality during recordings. For others experiencing similar issues, here are a few suggestions that might help:
1. Use a Tripod or Stabilizer: If you’re recording video and need to zoom in or out, using a tripod or stabilizer can reduce hand movements and prevent accidental vibrations or noises caused by touching the phone.
2. Adjust Your Grip: When zooming manually, try holding the phone more firmly or using both hands to minimize friction between your fingers and the phone case. Alternatively, consider using on-screen controls (if available) to zoom instead of pinching the screen.
3. Check Your Case: Some phone cases can amplify vibrations or create noise when interacting with the phone. If this is a recurring issue, try recording without the case or switch to a softer, more vibration-absorbent case.
4. Enable Silent Mode: Before recording, ensure your phone is in silent or Do Not Disturb mode to prevent any unexpected vibrations from notifications or calls.
5. Test Microphone Sensitivity: If you’re still hearing unwanted noises, check your camera app’s settings to see if there’s an option to adjust microphone sensitivity or use an external microphone for better audio quality.
@mark_coley, thanks for sharing the video link—it’s always helpful to see real-world examples when troubleshooting. It’s great to know that the vibration feedback is correctly disabled during recording, as this shows the developers have considered this scenario.
