compared to any other major phone manufacturer out there, for me in particular it seems like a non-ideal decision to buy a zenfone based on this fact alone. I want to buy the zenfone 11 ultra but getting no more updates after 2 years is a major drawback.
Those of you who have zenfone phones, is asus kind enough to provide android updates after 2 years?

Asus is not kind at all. Writing this from my ZenFone 9 which will never get more updates, after 2 years.
Also they don't allow unlocking bootloader, so bye bye custom roms for this phone.
My next phone will not be Asus.

Zenfone 10 owner here. Even after 9 months they delay security updates so you're out of date for 2-4 months. Still awaiting December security update, let alone full version of Android 15. First and last Asus phone. Buggy and slow updates means it's not trustworthy.

I will be less negative than other replies I see here.
I will speak from my own experience. I ended up using my Asus Zenfone 5Z for more than 5 years before switching to the Zenfone 11 Ultra. I bought the new phone not because the 5Z was still running Android 10, but simply because the battery was dying. I was no longer getting Android upgrades, but the apps were (and are) still working. Security updates are important, and the Zenfone 11 comes with 4 years of security updates. Android is not as prone to virus infections as a PC, and running an antivirus scan from time to time makes it safer to use.
I prefer to have a stable system that I can rely on, rather than the latest version of an operating system that is often plagued by bugs. In any case, after a few years you will reach the limit of hardware obsolescence, because it is the evolution of technology that makes a phone obsolete.

I agree you with you mate.
Asus has 2 years of system updates and 4 years of patches. It is important that they do not mess anything up with updates like other manufacturers do e.g. Samsung
Android system updates do not bring any big changes to be honest with you so you not missing any big improvements. As for me security patches are more important. I wouldn't worry too much about these updates.
I usually change my phone every 2 years so I don't have a problem with that
I buy Asus because of the clean fast Android so I'm not bothered with OS updates.
