Black screen

Hello,

UX301L sn E4N0CY491501178

I changed the battery (for the 3rd time after 3 years with the 2nd battery). The battery fonction ok and charges ok. However, the laptop screen became black and only the external BenQ display connected via the display port works well, as it did before the battery replacement. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

theres a cable runing from the hinge to a connector by the edge of the battery. I guess that while inserting the battery the connector was slightly displaced or extracted. I removed the male part attached to the cable, removed the barcode sticked that prevented full insertion, vacuumed the area, applied contact cleaner ro the female and male parts of the connector then inserted it thoroughly till a click was heard, C'est tout. Now the display works as new

If the external monitor works fine, it is likely that the laptop's screen is faulty. I recommend checking the screen's cable connections or the screen itself. Alternatively, you may send the laptop to a service center for further inspection.

Thank you!

That's what i was thinking although i cannot imagine how the cables could have been harmed  during the battery replacement!

Can you recommend a ressource guiding how  to check the integrity of the screen connection ?

Thanks again

We regret that we do not have any relevant information that can be publicly provided.
It is recommended to check if the issue of the screen not displaying is caused by a bent screen cable.
