ROG Phone 8 Pro Overheating Issue

Recently bought the ROG Phone 8 Pro, and while I love the performance, I’m facing serious overheating issues. The phone gets extremely hot during  charging, and even regular usage, which affects performance and battery life for sure. Sometimes, I notice frame drops and throttling lol while playing intensive games. I’ve tried lowering refresh rates, adjusting performance settings, and even using the AeroActive Cooler, but the heating issue persists.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Are there any official fixes or firmware updates from ASUS that could help? Any suggestions from other users would be greatly appreciated!

Overheating is a common issue with high-performance gaming phones like the ROG Phone 8 Pro, but here are some potential solutions:

  1. Update Firmware – Make sure your phone is running the latest software update, as ASUS often releases fixes for thermal management.
  2. Adjust Armoury Crate Settings – Try switching to Dynamic or Ultra Durable mode instead of X Mode to reduce excessive heat.
  3. Enable Bypass Charging – If you’re gaming while charging, enable Bypass Charging in Armoury Crate to reduce battery heat buildup.
  4. Lower Refresh Rate & Brightness – Using a 144Hz refresh rate and max brightness generates more heat. Try lowering them to 120Hz or 90Hz for better thermal control.
  5. Use a Cooling Accessory – The AeroActive Cooler X or an external cooling fan can help dissipate heat more effectively.
  6. Close Background Apps – Too many apps running in the background can cause additional heating. Use Game Genie to optimize performance.
  7. Avoid Gaming While Charging – Playing while plugged in generates excessive heat. If possible, charge the phone first, then game.
  8. Check for Rogue Apps – Some apps may be using CPU/GPU resources unnecessarily. Use the battery usage stats to identify any high-consuming apps.
