Can't Place Calls With 5G Turned On

anony11
Star III

Hello all,

At the start of this year, I had posted about getting a "no sim" error when placing calls (https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/rog-phone-7/no-service-no-sim-when-placing-phone-call/m-p/460813#M4961)

I was able to figure out that the issue would only happen if I had 5G turned on which led me to believe that the issue is caused by the phone's lack of support for Vo5G/VoNR.

Are other folks experiencing similar issues? Does anyone know if there are plans to add support for Vo5G/VoNR in a software update?

Thanks

The team wonders if you could create a log, as the ROG Phone 7 does support 5G on T-Mobile.
While creating the log please make sure to capture the following 2 steps.
1. Inserting the SIM card while the phone is running the log tool
2. After internet access is established, please recreate the "no SIM" error.

Please follow the below steps to enable the built-in log tool (Bug reporter).
1. Open “Calculator APP”
2. Enter “.19595+=”
3. Select the Log type according to the type of issue you want to capture. “Phone, mobile networks, and signal”
4. After your selection the log tool will exit so you can duplicate the issue or wait for it to happen. Try to use the screen recorder to show your issue when possible. If you can't screen record your issue, then please take a screenshot right after the issue has occurred (as a timestamp) so we know where to look in the log.
5. Navigate back to the log tool via calculator and Tap "FINISH AND SHARE".
6. It takes several minutes for the log to generate. You can exit and do other stuff in the meantime. A silent notification will tell you once the process is done. Tap the notification and then the share button to upload the file to Google Drive and share the link with a moderator. Just make sure to change the permission first so that everyone with the link has permission to view it.
Note: When you're no longer planning on logging your device, enter “.09595+=” in the calculator and the log tool will stop as well as deleting all stored log files. Make sure to share via calculator. The files found in internal storage -> asus_log are not the correct files (they are only 1.2kb)

I have previously sent you a log (and video) of this issue via DM back in January of this year. Please check your DMs. If you are unable to find it, let me know and I will send it again.

Yes, the log was sent to the team, however, they indicated that some information was missing.
The missing details are related to the two steps I mentioned earlier,  to address this, please start the log tool, reproduce both steps, and then close the log tool when it's done.
This will give the log the information needed.

Sent you a DM

I received the DM, thank you, will make sure to forward the link to the dev team 🙂
