XT9 LAN Switch connectivity issues

I have two XT9's, everything works wonderfully over wifi, but if I connect two devices over the LAN ports, the connection stops working.

if I change anything in the router configuration and select apply, the router restarts somethings, then it works for a while, then stops again.

i saw few other folks having the same issues, but apparently nobody from asus takes it seriously . I also opened a ticket but so far no reply. 
I'm currently using a switch connected to one LAN port, and the devices are plugged in the switch, but this not what I wish, and the LAN switch module should work!

 I'm guessing there's a buffer overflow in the firmware that freezes the LAN switch after a certain amount of packets go through it.

Regarding the network issue you encountered, we suggest you try the following:

  1. Firmware update: Please ensure that the firmware of all network devices (router, switch, etc.) is the latest version. You can log in to the management interface of each device to check and update.
  2. Factory reset: If the problem persists after updating the firmware, we recommend that you reset all devices to factory settings and reconfigure the network.
  3. Check network cables: Please check all network cables for damage or loose connections. If necessary, replace the network cables.
  4. Adjust LAN port settings: You can try adjusting settings such as MTU value or flow control in the router or switch settings page.
  5. When the problem occurred: When did this problem start? Is it related to a specific firmware update?

If the above methods still cannot solve the problem, we recommend that you use the system's reporting function to provide us with the relevant system logs and error messages when the problem occurs so that we can further analyze it.

2. Find “Administration,” and tap “Feedback”

4. Read the agreement and click “I agree.”
5. Tap “Send” to submit your feedback.
Then provide the product serial number, the time of submitting the issue report, the email used for filling out the issue report, and the time when the issue occurred via private message.

I have almost the same issue with my new pair of XT9s, newest firmware upgrade.  I have 11 devices on wifi, two wired PCs.  When I plug the PC's into two of the three wired LAN ports on the XT9, they can each see and ping all other devices, except the other wired PC.  [These worked perfectly together on the previous router, it's not a firewall or file sharing issue].  Can't ping or share with the other wired port, but the PC's  CAN see each other if either PC uses it's alternative built-in wifi connection.  I called ASUS support and after quite the discussion was told "the 3 hardwired ports are isolated, it's a feature".  I told the tech it seemed like a bug and that isolation "feature" is not documented anywhere, was not how I expected it to work.  As you mentioned, I've ordered a $15 gigabit switch to hang off the port, that should solve it.  However my problem was not intermittent... but it did work periodically whenever either laptop's wifi was connected.  If I turn off wifi, the hardwire connections won't talk to each other.
