And we resolved it with Amazon, and they should address this rolling.
It seems some of you already see this change in your Amazon Prime video apps.
Is there a way within the app to tell what resolution the video is playing? When I played it (for a few seconds only) it looks fine. Is it just by the eye test that it doesn't look HD to you?
Yes. But it is definitely not even 720p - that much is clear.
Asus customer care clearly said that asus 6z does not support hd format in 6z ,
Its says HD next to playing time when playing 720p and HD1080p when playing 1080p and 4k when playing 4k but i think 4k does not work phone but on PC and streaming boxes/sticks .
How come it works for you Paras? It doesn't even say hd for me. And the quality on Prime is bad.
Btw Netflix plays in HD fine.
Its not Asus but oneplus 7. Netflix works in HD i.e 720p on Asus 6z because Netflix support all phones with Sd 855 processor to play in HD btw Netflix on oneplus and if i am not wrong ROG 2 a gaming phone works in 1080p and HDR too.
Doesn't say HD for me either. I hardly ever use it so no biggie but I don't know why it wouldn't. Should be widevine compliant on this device.
Edit - I did try an uninstall then reinstall but no help.
Amazon Prime streaming in HD does not support ZenFone 6. We have raised this with Amazon but so far there has been no success.
It is not due to the lack of any content protection as ZF6 correctly supports the relevant Widevine level..
Hi, thanks for responding. Can anything be done from the ASUS team to take this to the higher ups of Amazon? This could be a deal-breaker for a lot of people thinking of buying ZF6 as streaming is very common these days and HD is the bare basic standard these days.
I think it's available now
Yup, finally! Thanks for letting me know!
It's available in Asus 6z
@CH_ASUS it's available .
Yes, it is working now. Many thanks team!
On a side note, you may also notice FullHD (1080p) streaming working on Netflix now as well.
Although not sure if it is all titles - but before we only did 720p on most (as basically almost every other phone) and now I noticed I could stream 1080p
Netflix was working fine for me from the start. So no problems there.
Still not working in USA. I confirmed with someone else online with a Z6. "Best" quality only allows for 0.46 gb/hr (approximate) vs over 2.0 gb/hr for those seeing the update. Please notify Asus/Amazon to hopefully fix.
Let's give it a few days first.
You could also try to clear the app cache/data, and re-login, maybe that could help?
Yeah I tried that (wiping the storage of the app and signing out and back in). Also uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted. I'll touch base again if I don't see anything by the new year. Thanks for responding.
