At least on "taiwan version" the display is still color banded. However phone feels much snappier so it's still worth installing, also updated security update etc.
How's battery life, same, better or worse?
Any update with volte?
How about thermals ?
VoLTE seems the same for me, according to @Saifuddin his VoLTE performance got better.
Battery life has yet to be tested, so far on idle I lost 0% in 1 hour.
Thermals as I answered in your other topic, are the same.
Yea , i have dual sim and my Vodafone volte was never stable before which also caused me some connections issues but for now volte is pretty stable and will see if i have any issues in calling anymore
Thanks for reply☺️
Thanks for reply 🙂
Hmm, disappointing that this wasn't fixed with the A11 stable release (unless there's another update coming, given how it said this update was for Taiwan)...
@Danishblunt, can the kernel-level fix you worked on be used after upgrading to A11? I may consider applying your fix.
Sad to hear no display update, but if they did what is the incentive for them since rog 5 biggest selling long/improvement over 3 is the screen.
Rog 3 cpu 865 is better than super hot rog 5 888
But anyway good job at least they roll out android 11
If i release an Android 11 Kernel then yes, currently only A10 is released. Problem is I'm working on bigger projects and I already fixed the screen for me on A11, hence I wouldnt count on it anytime soon, no time and no real motiviation especially since the rog community is mostly quite garbage.
Ah, that's a shame but understandable. Thanks, though.
Well the reason I made the A10 kernel and shared it everywhere was mainly to pressure ASUS to get a fix out themselves, but having users ask when they get an update or a feature on my kernel is quite annoying. Another big issue is that my private kernel is more personilized than the public one i share with people. So I'd have to maintain 2 kernels which again is just annoying work, huge props to people who have the time and patience with kernel development over a long peroid of time.
I was quite sure that ASUS would get a fix out with the A11 stable update, but was proven otherwise, I simply refuse to believe that developers who get paid cannot fix a problem since a year now, which a single software developer could fix in his spare time in 1 week's worth of work alone and with little to no prior experience with compiling linux kernels or the C language beforehand.
I will assume that this is either due to stricly not being allowed to work on a fix or complete and utter negligence of the problem.
Told you. Building custom kernel or ROM is fun at first but then, people will start asking for an update and adding more features🤣🤣
Asking is fine but when people start demanding things it gets annoying
Got the update for Android 11. Malaysia. Still having the color band.
