  • Yes please some tell how to disable it.

  • Hi friends

Thank you for your asking. Emergency linked with the power button is an essential design while it not only allows helper or medical personnel to check your emergency information, but also letting people to make the emergency call more quickly. May I know why you want to disable the function? Also, please elaborate more about your question, maybe with I picture may help.

  • I guess he want the option to turn it on/off to avoid accidental calls. It's common to accidently call the emergency help line.

  • I don't think it's very easy for the user or at any situation to access this option accidentally from power button. Because, it need to be pressed Thrice the button (Which can't pressed accidentally). It's not common.

Only mistake from user end will be instead of Volume down, mistakenly the user can press Power button. Which is completely the user fault and need to take care by self.

That's the common accident that I was referring to. Happens with most of the users.

I was not actually supporting his feedback. I just wrote that comment as an answer to the question 'May I know why you want to disable the function?' asked by the MOD.

I'm a person who actually likes that feature.

  • I don't think it's a problem If it is for our safety…in emergemcy... For many people, this can be very important at a time when they really need it...

    Hi F.T.P

Thank you for your asking. As I remembered, the trigger of Emergency linked with the power button requires 5 times ( Yachendra said thrice, I suggest it depends on countries) of clicks. Since you will trigger the function with clicking the power button 1-2 times, I suggest you try some stay-at-home troubleshooting tips below first, if the situation remains the same, kindly bring your device to the nearest repair center for further checking.

    1. Please try to enter "Safe Mode". If the function works well in Safe Mode yet the issue remains out of Safe Mode, please check on any disturbance from the installed 3rd party apps.

    # How to enter and exit "Safe Mode"

    https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1005163/

    2. Also, please try "the Factory Reset"

    Settings>System>Reset options>Erase all data(factory reset)

Please note that once the Factory Reset is completed, all data, apps, settings and personal information will be deleted.

  • avoid pressing power button 3 times simultaneously

  • This has happened quite a lot not just pressing the power button, but also while unlocking the phone via finger print. There is some combination where when I unlock the phone thru finger print it somehow dials the emergency number and its quite annoying. This has started too often in recent updates. To all the people outrightly blaming end users, relax. We all are up for safety and security, but that should not result into frequent false alarms. Thing is the automatic dialing of emergency number in certain situations and the issue needs to be fixed. Asus may not provide the off switch, but atleast the device should not dial on its own unexpectedly.

See the log, you think I would take the trouble to pick the preferred card before dialling emergency number by mistake? Its but obvious this is a serious bug for this already f**** up software. MODERATORS dont ask for any video, I am sure you are intelligent enough to see the snapshot and figure out the shit loaded.

  • 1. This feature is a requirement if they want to sell the device in the country according to my knowledge.

    2. My old lenovo, lg and my nokia 8.1 ,6.1plus also does the same.

    It is not a bug.

  • It is indeed a Feature if user intends to call an emergency.

But if it accidentally calling the emergency number without users knowledge, its a bug. By what I described, I think its clear that its a bug.

Which version is your device in bro ?

I think its happening only in your device. Well, I did not encounter this issue while unlocking via fingerprint scanner. I believe that is the case with majority of users here. Try to Reset your device. If that is not working it might be a hardware issue.

  • Latest and greatest firmware from Asus. Regarding reset, I think that should be the last step one shall resort to. A bug free software means, end user should have a seamless experience.

Thats the whole point. Its a bug.

  • If a feature is working how it is supposed then it is not a bug. And emergency call feature is working how it is supposed to work.

    Hi Vral

Thank you for your asking. A bug can be assessed as a software issue (firmware issue) only if the majority users have the same situation in their phone OR a factory reset device in the same firmware has the issue. Kindly provide the information below so that we can better assist you.

    1. Your current firmware version

    Settings>System>About Phone>Build Number

    3. Also, please try "the Factory Reset", does the situation remains the same?

    Settings>System>Advanced>Reset options>Erase all data(factory reset)

Please note that once the Factory Reset is completed, all data, apps, settings and personal information will be deleted.

    4. If the issue remains the same after performing the Factory Reset, please bring your device to the nearest repair center. You can also provide me a video for double checking.

  • Thanks for defining feature and bug. I suggest you spare some time to read my earlier comments.

  • Thanks for the ultimate solution/fix to all the issues in max pro m1.

I wish 2020 can also be fixed the same way by Factory Reset.
