A washout defect/light-spot just appeared on my display.

It occurs in the lower third, center of the display. The spot is about the size of the thumbprint.

The spot is most noticeable when viewing a scrolling white background with dark text. Also, if I max out the brightness, it's not as noticeable.

Has anyone else seen this happen on their Zenfone 9 before?

Got my phone back. They replaced the display, but contaminated the cameras. Had to send it back. After 5 weeks I got the phone back.

Defect shows up still, right now only visible on very high and very low brightness. I think it is just a defect with the phone itself.

So 6/15/2023, a faint light spot appeared after charging in the morning. This is about a week after getting the phone back from RMA:

One day later, the light spot has increased in intensity, has a hard rectangular shape, with a circle in the middle:

Asus had my phone for 2 weeks now on the third RMA, and said they cannot locate the defect. I had the CEO feedback office inform the repair team of the screen location and go over the photos. Asus still claims they can not find the defect. They seem unable or unwilling to properly repair the phone.

I have been wirhout the use of my phone for 6-8 weeks or more now throughout this process. I have lost count of exactly how long. The repair technicians appear quite incompetent, as they left oils on the lens after the first RMA, and were unable to locate an obvious visual defect on the third RMA.

This is a crazy story. I can't believe how unprofessional they are.

Are they extending your existing warranty to account for these months  you are losing?

I believe they have extended it for 2 months, which sort of covers the loss of use. But really the inconvenience of not having a powerful phone outweighs the future possible warranty. Especially if they are unable to execute the warranty to repair or replace their defective product.

Been using my old motorola g. Feels slow, but at least it works. Has worked for years without issue...
