By now is it clear the Asus Zenfone 8 has a weakness when it comes to its motherboard. Phones are dying in very comparable situations; after installing an update or patch and/ or when charging. The died phones show the same state: a sudden black screen, no response on buttons or screen, sometimes an orange fast blinking LED for about ten seconds when the charger is attached, after which also this stops blinking. Even the life duration of the phones are alike when this happens; around two years. Some people are lucky that it can be repaired under warranty, most aren't when warranty has just expired.
All of the phones which were repaired received a new motherboard. So also in here the fix seems comparable. Or at least not repairable with a soldering or partial replacement of other components. There is no wide variety of repairs to be found on ZenTalk on this.
This issue goes beyond individual or even wrong use, a single faulty or unfortunate phone. All phones that died did this in comparable situations and after comparable life times. There is something wrong with the design or components of the Zenfone 8, or at least a batch, which can't be put on warranty alone when it comes to a repair.
Asus, please take this matter and your clients serious. At least more then you have proven till this date. Asus can't just address this matter with the initial question if the phone is still under the warranty. Asus does know what the technical issues are with these phones, so please then also take your responsibility. Asus put this premium phone on the market at a premium price. This comes with an expected life duration that goes beyond a hard line of just 24 months. Warranty is for specific situations. These dying Zenfones are not specific. It is a general issue. So please handle it as such.
Can Asus confirm that they will keep addressing issues regarding these dying Zenfones as individual technical matters? And thus with warranty as strict and main component to define if Asus or customers are financially responsible for further action? And if so, what is their response to these resembling dying phones that Asus will keep holding onto this strict warranty duration when it is clear customers can't be held responsible for their broken Zenfones, since they die during normal use or especially after installing new and updated Asus firmware?
To all users of a died Zenfone 8: please add your phone to this thread, when it died (lifetime) and on which occurence.
Kind regards,
León

(serial number M8AIB**********) Bricked Zenfone 8 today, out of warranty. My first Asus device. Bought on 06/2022. Always well cared phone inside a asus cover and also a leather pouch. I just wonder what they'l have to say about this here in Portugal Support - Since that on the moment of purchase it wasnt available the colour and specs I wanted here in Portugal I ended up bying it online outside of my country. My last samsung midrange phone was used for more than 5 years and it still runs. I was about to buy a reconditioned iPhone. Ended up paying a little more for this "Premium" phone believing it was the most Inteligent choice and not moving from Android. I ended it up buying a worldwide defective product. By the previous reviews I've read so far, what kind of company is this??? seems to me it's the kind of one you never come back to...

Here's the reply I got from Falcon_Asus:
"Based on the serial number information, your phone is now out of warranty (warranty expired on 2023-06-20).
As it has been beyond the warranty period, the service center may provide you with a cost estimate for parts replacement.
The following is the contact information:

Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused."
Just great (only it's not)! I'm reaching out to Portuguese Support and will be waiting for their response, this is what I'll be expecting for sure: I will have to pay to ship the device to 300Km away from me. For sure followed by a quote charging me just to investigate the problem. An then the cherry in top of the cake will be asking me to pay for a new motherboard (As some other members here have mentioned around +400€).
Let's see if the stated above checks. I'll update as soons as I have the answers...
Edit: No support here in PT for this device. Since it was bought online (coming directly from Thailand) I should report it there. But again the Warranty conversation... No, No and No, if this a bad manufactured device happening to many customers all over the world Asus should step up and at least repair the phones free of charge Or refund the customers, like it seems is happening for Aussie customers out of warranty - there in Australia the LAW protects the customers from bad produced devices and services...

Hi! add my zenfone 8 16Gb RAM and 256 Storage to the dead zenfone 8 list. Yesterday while I check Google Maps, suddenly turn off and no respond to any click, long click or charge phone. after all night without connected charger, try to turn on again, and blink led red appears, and after few seconds doesn't work again...
As other users, my phone is out of warranty, so I need to check with my local technical in Spain, if Asus take care of this issue.
